Let’s get serious, anyway. If I could guarantee a MAGFest- sized show where I knew I could sell as much as I sell there, I’d have a good solid job rolling. But it’s tough to count on any other shows being as successful as that one, so until then I’ll keep hustling on the off season and show up in January with a bad-ass table ready to do battle.
This MAGFest was by faaaaaaar the best one I’ve done, and I think most of the other vendors would agree that there was a healthy group of “Spendersons” there (the term I use to differentiate between people who spend money vs those who’re just walking around with their money lodged well up into their butts) so we all enjoyed a slice of the fat money pie.
Let’s talk and talk about it, but I know what you’re thinking: where’s the pics and shots, Ben?? I’m here to disappoint, and can confidently say that the one thing I didn’t do was take pictures of all the new stuff I did for the show. Suffice to say, it was all really good! Lucky though that it was all stuff I have molded, so I’ll soon have shots of everything. I did manage to get shots of Shovel Knight, so here’s some of that for you:
I have good shots of these Shovelers because it was actually something I got done AFTER MAGFest. I had the option to pre-order the figure at the show and a few people took the deal, so these were the first thing I did when I got back. I gave the option of armor color and phrase on the base. They were a lot of fun to do! I’m almost done with the big commissions from MAG, and can get back into sculpting new stuff. In the meantime, I’m hustling in the next few months to pay the huge tax bill I got saddled with, so if video game figures are your thing, check out my new etsy shop. There’s a whole bunch of stuff not sold from the show, so there’s something there for you, I’d bet!

I woke up and felt a strange sensation that I was forgetting something today. I went downstairs and into the kitchen and forgot why I went in there, so I went out and went back in but couldn’t get a handle on it. Then I went back up the stairs, but miscalculated the number of steps so I did that thing where you feel like you know you can fly but have forgotten how to. THEN I REMEMBERED: I need to build a new stair-step.
THEN I REMEMBERED: That wasn’t what I forgot to do. ScrewAttack reminded me though, that I said on camera that if you go to my site there would be a Flash Man sculpture ready for viewing. Well, I rushed back downstairs to where my computer used to be, but I forgot that I sold it for a novelty corncob cellphone. So now I’m at the library and feverishly posting this so that I’m not made out to be a liar! So, check it out, ScrewAttackers!
Or are ScrewAttack patrons ScrewVictims?

A few months and constant punishment to my back and fingers has yielded a trove of new sculptures for my favorite gathering of video-game folks! This is the first year I ever dabbled in silicone molds so I was able to crank out some of the lesser characters and do a SHY GUY RAINBOW. Seriously, they look like candy.
I’m gonna participate in the MAGHunt, a sort of Alternate Reality game they’re trying to put together. I’d like to be a person people have to go to for a puzzle, but I’m not sure if I cleared that with the coordinator. I do know that one of the Shy Guys’ll be put up as a prize, so look out for the fabled Black Shy Guy on the MAGHunt prize table. Legend has, it carries a terrible curse. Only seek to win it if your life is otherwise uninteresting and you could do well with some cursey stuff happening to you.
Stay tuned after the show, I always wait to unveil a lot of new sculptures at the convention so they’re a complete surprise! Besides Mega Man chess, there are a BUNCH of new pieces that I’m real excited about.

OH BOY… MAGFest is a mere 7 days away and I’m feverishly finishing up as many projects as possible. Sorry to those who tried to get in some last-minute Christmas gifts from me, I want to make sure I’ve got enough of a table to WOW the gawkers and lookers-on this year at my table!
I did, however, get a call from Tim Ekkebus of X-Strike Studios who wanted a Candy Cat from the Dragon Quest Series. Since I can’t say no to Tim (because I’m very, very scared of him) I got down to business on his project straight away! Don’t let the date of this post fool you, though– I did it like three weeks ago but didn’t say anything about it until now because he wanted it to be a Christmas secret. Now I’m pretty sure Christmas is over, but these days you never can tell the way televesion never shuts up about it. Is it over?
I keep saying I’ll unveil the big project before MAG on the site, so I will. Tomorrow night I’ll put up the gallery of my latest invention! Be there!
And go to Candy Cat Land!

Let me apologize for everything. Everything bad that has ever happened to you, let me just go ahead and say, I’m sorry. Didn’t know. Thought it’d help. My fault, entirely. There you go!
More specifically, sorry to everyone who I coaxed into visiting my site from MAGFest only to find a wholly derelict outfit, with the most recent update from almost a year ago! I assure you I still think I run a business, and business is as good as you want it to be. With this in mind, the sculpture page has been packed to brimming with new sculptures; thanks greatly to the talented and uncommonly charitable Lady Kitana for helping me out with this update. Congratulations to me for everything I have ever done. Magfest 5 was a get-down that will be difficult to forget. Everyone in attendance was there, which was really cool. There are pictures of all the little dumplings in the sculptures page. Also I hope to maybe get a videos section up soon, which will parallel the literature section in quality. I might consolidate them into one category, the “Dual Quasars of Disappointment” section!
Thanks Brendan for laminating my way to success! Thanks to everyone who was in cahoots with him for putting on my favorite video-game convention! Thanks Bill Watterson, I frigg’n love Calvin and Hobbes!

The resounding sentiment is that there is no excuse or call for the fact that I am exceedingly, uncommonly busy. I have been without the time to update this website for nigh on six months now! Where do the rest of you find the time?
Sometimes I go to sleep and have to wake up five minutes earlier to go to school- only to find my class is usually cancelled due to illness or dog-related mishaps. Unfortunately, I am obligated to sit there for the entire two hours because my new years resolution was to live entirely by principle. (more…)
